This Privacy Policy explains how Low Miles No Miles, LLC ("LMNM," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and keeps personal information when you use the Low Miles No Miles websites, apps and related services (the "Service"). It applies to members, visitors, dealers and their team members, and anyone who contacts us. It does not apply to other companies' websites or services, even if you reach them from the Service.
Summary
- We collect information you give us (such as your account details, listings, bids and messages), information generated when you use the Service (such as sign-in and usage records), and information from partners that help us provide the Service.
- We use it to run the marketplace and auctions, keep members safe, process payments for our fees, communicate with you and improve the Service.
- Your username and the listings, bids and comments you post are public. Your email address, phone number, legal name and payment details are not, except that when a sale is formed we share contact details between the buyer and the seller so they can complete it.
- We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising cookies or pixels. If that changes, we will update this Policy before the change takes effect and give you the choices the law requires.
- You can access, correct and ask us to delete your information, subject to the exceptions in Section 9, by writing to privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com.
1. Information we collect
1.1. Account information. Your email address; username and display name; your legal name if you give it; a password, which we store only as a one-way hash; your confirmation that you are at least 18 (or your date of birth, if the sign-up screen asks for it); your phone number if you give it, with whether it has been verified; your two-step sign-in settings if you turn it on; your account roles and status; and your notification and communication preferences.
1.2. Consent and acceptance records. The versions of our terms and policies you accepted, when and how, and records of your consents and choices about text messages and email.
1.3. Sign-in and security information. Records of sign-in attempts, including the email address used, whether it succeeded, the IP address, the browser or device (user agent) and the time; session records; and security alerts about new devices.
1.4. Listing and vehicle information. What you tell us about a vehicle, such as its year, make, model, VIN, mileage and odometer status, condition, title and lien status, known defects, history, location (state, and city if you give it) and price; photos, video and documents you upload; your Seller Certification; and the history of each listing, including who supplied each fact and when, edits, review decisions and moderation.
1.5. Bidding, offers and auction information. Each bid you place, its amount and time, the versions of the Auction Rules and Fee Schedule you accepted, bids that were refused and why, auction results, offers in the negotiation window, and your bidder readiness status.
1.6. Payment information. When you pay LMNM or save a card, you enter your card details with our payment processor, not with LMNM. We receive and keep a reference to your card, its brand, last four digits and expiration date, and records of authorizations, charges, failed payments and refunds. LMNM does not receive or store your full card number or security code.
1.7. Transportation booking information. If you book transportation through the Service: pickup and delivery addresses and contact details, the vehicle and its condition information, the service level, dates, booking status and tracking updates, and any claim you make. If you ask for a transportation quote: the pickup and delivery locations you give and the vehicle the quote is for.
1.8. Community and messaging information. Comments, Garage entries, ownership claims, contributions to a vehicle's record, WTB ads, likes, follows and watched vehicles, saved searches, reviews, reports you make, and messages you send to other members or to LMNM.
1.9. Dealer information. For a dealer organization: its legal and trade names, website, business address, locations, dealer license numbers and states and our record of checking them, team members and their roles, plan and benefit history, inventory read from the dealer's website, and inquiries it receives.
1.10. Usage and device information. Records of how the Service is used, such as pages viewed, listings viewed, searches and events like placing a bid; server logs with IP address, browser type, pages requested and times; and cookies as described in Section 6.
1.11. Information from LMNM's earlier websites. Accounts, listings, auction results, bids, comments and subscriptions from LMNM's earlier websites were moved to the Service. Where an earlier password was carried over, it is stored only as the same one-way hash it was stored as before, until you sign in and it is replaced or you reset it.
Cards saved on LMNM's earlier websites. If you paid for a subscription on an earlier LMNM website and saved a card there, that card was transferred from LMNM's earlier payment processor to our current payment processor, Stripe, as a transfer between the two processors. LMNM did not receive your full card number in the transfer and does not store it. Stripe holds the transferred card in LMNM's account. We use it only to continue a subscription you already have with LMNM, and for no other charge, unless you confirm in your account that LMNM may use it for other purchases. Your earlier processor may keep its own records under its own terms. You can remove a transferred card in Billing or your account settings, or by writing to billing@lowmilesnomiles.com or privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com. Removing the card does not cancel the subscription it pays for: if no other card is saved for it, the failed-payment steps in Section 10.7 of the Dealer Program Terms apply, with notices and a chance to add a card, before the subscription may be paused or end. If you want to end the subscription, cancel it. Once it ends, it is not restored at its earlier price unless LMNM expressly offers that.
1.12. Communications with us. What you send to our support, billing, auction, dealer, privacy or legal mailboxes, and our replies.
2. Where information comes from
From you; from other members (for example, a message someone sends you or a report about a listing); from dealers' websites and feeds; from our service providers (for example, our payment processor tells us whether a charge succeeded, and our transportation provider sends booking status updates); from vehicle data providers (for example, a vehicle history report for a VIN); and from your browser or device when you use the Service. If you sign in with another company's account, if we offer that, we receive the information that company shares with your permission, as Section 11 describes.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service: create and secure your account; publish listings; run auctions; identify high bidders; issue sale confirmations; introduce buyers and sellers; deliver messages and notifications; process transportation bookings; and keep the records the Service depends on.
- To process payments for LMNM's fees and card authorizations (and, once transportation booking is available, for transportation bookings), to continue subscriptions you already have with LMNM, and to handle refunds and disputes.
- To review and moderate: check vehicles against our qualification standard, review listings and dealer information, handle reports, and enforce our Terms.
- To protect members and the Service: detect and prevent fraud, scams, auction manipulation, account takeovers and security incidents.
- To communicate with you: send service and transactional messages about your account, listings, bids, purchases and conversations; send text messages you agreed to receive; and send marketing email or text messages only where the law allows and, for marketing texts, only if you opted in. You can opt out of marketing at any time.
- To improve the Service: understand how the Service is used and fix problems, using usage records and, where enabled, analytics.
- To comply with law and protect rights: keep records the law requires, respond to lawful requests, and establish or defend legal claims.
4. Automated screening
To protect members, the Service uses automated tools to screen the messages a seller and a high bidder send each other while they negotiate after an auction that ends below its reserve, for contact details and for attempts to take the sale off the Service; to check submissions against our qualification standard; and to flag unusual sign-in or bidding activity. A screened message that clearly tries to take the sale off the Service is not delivered, and we keep it for a person at LMNM to review. One that only might is delivered and marked for review. Decisions to restrict or close an account are made by a person at LMNM, and we record the reason.
5. What is public, and what we share
5.1. Public information. Your username is public and appears beside your bids, listings, comments, Garage entries, contributions, WTB ads and reviews. Listings, including their photos, descriptions, prices and results, auction bid histories (usernames and amounts) and comment threads are public and stay public after a sale as part of the vehicle's record. A listing shows the vehicle's VIN and state, and its city if the seller gives one. We do not publish a private seller's street address.
5.2. Between buyers and sellers. When an auction sale is formed, or an offer is accepted in the negotiation window, we open a private conversation between the buyer and the seller and may give each the other's name, email address and phone number (where provided) so they can complete the sale. When you message a seller or dealer about a listing, they see your username and your message. Dealers receive the inquiries buyers send about their vehicles.
5.3. Service providers. We share information with companies that process it for us, under our instructions, to provide the Service. They currently include providers for web and application hosting (Vercel and Railway), our database (Neon), file and photo storage (Cloudflare), backups, payment processing (Stripe), transactional email (Resend), text messages (Twilio), error monitoring (Sentry) and analytics where enabled (Google Analytics). Each may use the information only to provide its service to us. Our error-monitoring provider receives technical reports when something on the Service fails: the type of error, which part of the Service it happened in, and the technical trace of the program. We remove email addresses, web addresses, account identifiers and similar details from the error text before it is sent, and we do not send it your requests, cookies or messages.
5.4. Vehicle data providers. When a listing's package includes a CARFAX Report, we send the vehicle's VIN to CARFAX to obtain the report. CARFAX does not receive information about you from us. We may send vehicle details (not your personal information) to market data providers to obtain vehicle market and sales information.
5.5. Transportation. If you book transportation, we share the information needed to complete it, such as names, pickup and delivery addresses, phone numbers and vehicle details, with our transportation provider and with the motor carrier assigned to move the vehicle. They use it to arrange and perform the transportation and handle claims, and may be subject to their own privacy policies for information they collect directly from you. When booking is available, the Shipping Terms then in force explain how to find out who our transportation provider is. If you ask for a transportation estimate, we send our transportation provider the pickup ZIP code where the vehicle is located (with its city and state, where we have them), the delivery ZIP code you enter, the vehicle's VIN (or, if no VIN is on file, its year, make and model), whether it runs, whether it is oversized and the trailer types to price (open and enclosed), so that it can price the move; we do not send your name, email address, phone number, street address or account details for an estimate, and an estimate does not book or pay for transportation.
5.6. Social media. When LMNM posts about a listing on its own social media accounts, the post uses the listing's public content. We do not post your private information.
5.7. Legal and safety. We share information when we believe it is required by law or legal process, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property or safety of LMNM, our members or others, including to prevent fraud.
5.8. Business transfers. If LMNM or the Service is sold, merged or reorganized, information may be transferred to the successor, subject to this Policy.
5.9. With your consent. We share information for other purposes if you ask us to or agree.
5.10. What we do not do. We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
| Cookie or technology | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in and protects your session | Up to 30 days, or until you sign out |
| Dealer workspace cookie | Remembers which dealership a dealer team member is working in | 90 days |
| Event cookie | Carries a single usage event from one page to the next for our own measurement | Seconds |
| Campaign cookie | Remembers which campaign link brought you to the Service | 30 days |
| Short-lived security cookies | Carry a one-time value between two steps, such as two-step sign-in or an invitation | Minutes |
| Google Analytics (where enabled) | Measures how the Service is used, for LMNM's own purposes | Set by Google |
Where we use Google Analytics, we use it to understand how the Service is used, not for advertising. You can learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Some listing pages show a CARFAX snapshot that loads from CARFAX, and some pages may show content hosted by others, such as an embedded video. When your browser loads that content, the provider receives your IP address, browser information and the address of the page.
Do Not Track. Your browser may send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because we do not track you across other companies' websites or use third-party advertising cookies, the Service does not change its behavior in response to that signal. If we ever add advertising technologies, we will update this Policy and explain the choices available, including how we respond to Global Privacy Control signals.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Signing in requires the session cookie.
7. Email and text messages
We send transactional and service email about your account and activity. If we send marketing email, every message will include an unsubscribe link, and we will honor your request within 10 business days. We send text messages only as the SMS Program Terms describe: service and auction alerts only if you turn them on, and marketing texts only if you give separate consent. Reply STOP to any text to stop that program. Your text message consent is never shared with third parties for their own marketing.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes in this Policy, including to provide the Service, to keep records that other members relied on, and to meet legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention and dispute-resolution needs. When information is no longer reasonably needed for those purposes, we delete it or de-identify it, unless the law requires us to keep it.
In practice, we apply these criteria:
| Information | How we decide how long to keep it |
|---|---|
| Account information | While your account is open. After closing, we keep what is needed to record past activity, prevent fraud and repeat abuse, and meet legal obligations, and delete or de-identify the rest when it is no longer reasonably needed. |
| Listings, auction results, bids and public comments | Kept as part of the vehicle's record on the Service, because other members relied on them and the record of an auction or sale must stay complete. |
| Records of fees, payments, refunds and taxes | For as long as tax, accounting and payment network rules require. |
| Acceptance and consent records | For as long as needed to show what you agreed to and consented to, including after your account closes. |
| Private messages | For as long as needed to provide the conversation, to protect members, and for any related dispute or investigation. |
| Sign-in, security and server logs | For as long as needed for security, fraud prevention and troubleshooting. |
| Transportation booking records | For as long as needed to complete the booking, handle claims and meet legal and accounting needs. |
| Information about a legal claim or investigation | Until the matter is resolved and any related retention period has ended. |
9. Your choices and rights
9.1. What you can do. You can:
- review and update your account information, notification settings and text message consents in your account;
- opt out of marketing email by using the unsubscribe link, and out of text messages by replying STOP;
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate; and
- ask us to delete your personal information or close your account.
To make a request, email privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com or use any request form the Service provides. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need up to 45 more days and why.
9.2. Verification and agents. We will verify your identity before acting on a request, usually by confirming control of the email address on your account. We may ask for more information for requests involving sensitive information. You may use an authorized agent if you give them signed permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity directly.
9.3. Exceptions. We may keep information we need to complete a transaction, keep the record of listings, bids and sales that other members relied on, detect and prevent fraud and security incidents, comply with law, keep records of your consents and opt-outs, or establish or defend legal claims. Where we keep information for these reasons, we limit its use to those purposes. When we delete an account's information, public contributions that are part of a vehicle's record may remain but can be de-identified from your account.
9.4. Appeals. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or emailing privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject. We will respond in writing within 45 days.
9.5. No discrimination. We will not deny you service or charge you a different price because you exercised a privacy right.
9.6. State-specific information. Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights. We will honor the rights your state's law gives you.
- California. Under California Business and Professions Code Section 22575, this Policy describes the categories of personal information we collect, the categories of third parties we share it with, how you can review and request changes to it, how we notify you of changes, and how we respond to Do Not Track signals. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
- Nevada. We do not sell covered information as Nevada law defines it. You may send a request to opt out of any future sale to privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com, which is our designated request address.
10. Security
We protect personal information with measures that include hashed passwords, encrypted connections, access controls on staff tools, records of staff actions that affect accounts and listings, and optional two-step sign-in for members. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
11. Signing in with another account
If we offer sign-in with another company's account, such as Facebook, and you use it, we receive the information that company shares with your permission, such as your name, email address and an account identifier, and we use it only to create and secure your LMNM account. Signing in this way does not mean you have accepted our Terms; you will be asked to accept them on our screen. You can disconnect the other account in your account settings or in that company's settings, and you can ask us to delete the information we received from it at privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com.
12. Photos and location data
We remove location and camera metadata from photos uploaded to the Service before we store them. Photos carried over from LMNM's earlier websites were copied as they were and may still contain metadata added when they were first uploaded. If you want a photo from an earlier listing reviewed or removed, write to privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com. We do not collect your device's precise location.
13. Children
The Service is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a person under 18 has an account, we will close it. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have, contact privacy@lowmilesnomiles.com.
14. Where we process information
LMNM is based in the United States, and we and our service providers store and process information in the United States.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may change this Policy. Each version has a version name and an effective date shown on the Service. If we make a material change to how we use or share personal information, we will notify you by email or on the Service before the change takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
