There are Low Miles No Miles cars...and then there are the ones that make you wonder who in the world had the foresight to save them.
This 1995 Dodge Neon Highline Coupe is one of those cars.
Showing just over 10,885 miles, finished in beautiful Black with a period-correct Blue and White pinstripe, and featuring an exceptionally preserved light Gray cloth interior, this first-year Neon is an extraordinary reminder of a time when Chrysler was doing things a little differently.
A 2.0-liter four-cylinder. An automatic transmission. Air conditioning. A set of classic Neon wheel covers.
Nothing exotic.
Nothing particularly expensive.
Just a little economy car that somebody loved enough to preserve for more than three decades.
And the best part?
This Neon comes with an incredible collection of memorabilia, accessories, paperwork, and collectibles assembled by its original owner, a dedicated Neon enthusiast who treated this car like something truly special.
Because to her, it was.
When the Dodge Neon arrived for the 1995 model year, Chrysler had a simple mission: build an affordable compact car that was fun to drive, full of personality, and completely different from the ordinary economy cars of the era.
With its cheerful styling, distinctive round headlights, and surprisingly roomy interior, the Neon quickly developed a following.
And while most were purchased as inexpensive daily transportation, this particular Highline Coupe experienced a very different life.
Powered by Chrysler's 2.0-liter SOHC four-cylinder engine and paired with an automatic transmission, it features air conditioning and a straightforward, comfortable equipment package.
The exterior is finished in Black, accented by a tasteful Blue and White pinstripe that gives the car a subtle touch of 1990s personality.
Inside, the light Gray cloth interior features subtle multicolored patterned seat inserts, a distinctive period detail that complements the otherwise understated cabin.
A rear spoiler was added when the car was new, and it retains an assortment of period Neon accessories that complement its original character.
The result is a remarkably preserved example of Chrysler's first-year compact, with a personality all its own.
The Story
This Neon was purchased brand new by a woman in New York who wasn't simply looking for inexpensive transportation.
She was a genuine Dodge Neon enthusiast.
According to the seller, she became an avid collector of Neon memorabilia, accessories, models, and anything else associated with the cars she loved.
And this particular Neon was her baby.
It was never driven during New York winters, carefully protected from the elements, and treated with a level of attention usually reserved for far more expensive collector vehicles.
The interior tells much of that story.
Throughout her ownership, the seats and interior surfaces were protected with towels, while multiple sets of floor mats were used to preserve the original carpeting.
Even the original colorful NEON-logo floor mats were carefully maintained and remain in beautiful condition.
The car was also fitted with Neon Racing seat belt pads, adding another little piece of the owner's enthusiasm for the model.
Rather than accumulating the miles typical of a compact daily driver, the Neon remained a carefully preserved member of her collection.
Approximately a year and a half ago, the vehicle was acquired by the selling dealership and subsequently placed into its private collection.
During that time, the car has continued to be preserved and maintained, retaining the remarkable originality established by its first owner.
But the car itself is only half the story.
The collection of Neon memorabilia accompanying it is something truly special.
The Neon Memorabilia Collection
It's not often that an automobile comes with an entire collection dedicated to the model itself.
But this one does.
Over the years, the original owner assembled an extensive assortment of Dodge Neon memorabilia, promotional materials, collectibles, and factory accessories.
Included with the sale is a collection of Brookfield Neon model cars that appears to represent nearly every variation produced, along with a dedicated display stand.
There are magazine articles, period advertisements, photographs, factory promotional materials, and years of carefully saved clippings documenting the Neon from its earliest days.
The collection also includes Neon Racing memorabilia, a Neon Racing PPG dress shirt, Neon-branded clothing, key chains, keys, and other accessories.
Even the factory promotional Cruising Tunes CDs associated with the first- and second-generation Neon are included.
The original owner's manual and window sticker accompany the vehicle, along with approximately two boxes of paperwork, photographs, magazine clippings, and related materials dating back to when the car was new.
A custom-fitted Neon Racing car cover is also included.
This isn't simply a box of miscellaneous automotive items.
It's a collection assembled over decades by someone who genuinely appreciated these cars and wanted to preserve their history.
Detailed photographs of the memorabilia and accessories included with the sale are provided in the auction gallery.
And yes, there's one more accessory worth mentioning.
Because this is a Neon from New York, the seller couldn't resist adding an ASS MAN license plate inspired by the classic Seinfeld episode.
Naturally, the plate comes with the car.
Sometimes you just have to have a little fun.
With just over 10,885 miles showing, this Neon presents in exceptionally well-preserved condition.
The Black exterior retains its original factory paint, which the seller describes as being in outstanding condition.
The period Blue and White pinstripe complements the factory finish, while the rear spoiler installed when new adds a subtle sporty touch.
Inside, the light Gray cloth upholstery remains remarkably clean, including the subtle multicolored patterned seat inserts.
The seats, carpeting, dashboard, door panels, and interior trim reflect the extraordinary care taken by the original owner to protect the cabin throughout its life.
The factory NEON-logo floor mats are included and remain in excellent condition.
The undercarriage is similarly impressive.
According to the seller, the vehicle has no body or structural rust, and the underside remains exceptionally clean.
Factory undercoating is present on the floor pan, with some light oxidation-colored surface discoloration visible on certain suspension components.
The car has not been subjected to extensive modifications or restoration and retains its original overall configuration.
One change made by the selling dealership was the installation of a different set of White Highline wheel covers paired with new tires.
The combination gives the car a clean, classic first-generation Neon appearance.
Importantly, the original flower-style wheel covers and original tires have been retained and are included with the sale.
Recent maintenance includes fluid service and replacement of the front brakes.
According to the seller, all equipment functions as intended, and the car starts, runs, and drives beautifully.
The result is a first-year Neon that looks remarkably close to the way it did when it left the showroom, complete with the accessories, documentation, and memorabilia that tell the story of its unusually devoted original owner.
Hi.
If you know, you know.
And if you don't, well, you probably weren't around when Dodge introduced one of the quirkiest little economy cars of the 1990s.
The Neon.
We've got a pretty special place in our hearts for these cars here at Low Miles No Miles.
And there's a reason for that.
Believe it or not, a Dodge Neon actually helped build LMNM into what it is today.
Back in the early days of our social media journey, one of our co-owners shared his daughter's incredible 1997 Dodge Neon Coupe.
Magenta Pink.
Five-speed manual.
And just 3,800 original miles.
It was one of those cars that had absolutely no business surviving in that condition.
And the internet went absolutely nuts over it.
People couldn't believe what they were looking at.
A nearly brand-new Dodge Neon, decades after these things had disappeared from most American roads.
That little pink coupe took social media by storm and helped introduce thousands of people to what Low Miles No Miles was all about.
It wasn't a Ferrari.
It wasn't a six-figure muscle car.
It was a Dodge Neon.
And people loved it.
That experience helped reinforce something we've believed from the beginning.
A car doesn't have to be expensive to be special.
Sometimes it's the ordinary stuff that brings back the best memories.
Which brings us to this absolutely incredible 1995 Dodge Neon Highline Coupe.
Just over 10,885 miles showing.
Original Black paint.
A beautifully preserved light Gray interior with subtle patterned cloth seats.
A period-correct pinstripe.
And an entire collection of Neon memorabilia that could probably fill a small museum.
Seriously, where do you find this stuff?
The original owner wasn't just someone who happened to buy a Neon.
She was a genuine Neon fanatic.
She loved these cars enough to preserve this one from new, protect the interior with towels, avoid winter driving, and spend decades collecting just about anything she could find with the Neon name on it.
Brookfield models.
Neon Racing memorabilia.
Magazine articles.
Clothing.
Key chains.
Factory promotional materials.
Even those old Cruising Tunes CDs.
It's like somebody packed up an entire Chrysler dealership display from 1995 and saved it for the next generation.
And we absolutely love that.
But the car itself might be even better.
Have you seen the interior?
The seats look like somebody just peeled the plastic off them.
The colorful NEON floor mats are still beautiful.
The paint is gorgeous.
And underneath, this thing has clearly avoided the rust and abuse that claimed so many of these little cars.
Most first-generation Neons were driven into the ground.
They were cheap transportation.
First cars.
College cars.
Winter beaters.
Cars that got handed down to teenagers and eventually disappeared.
Nobody was thinking about preserving them.
Except a handful of people who saw something special in these quirky little Chryslers.
And we're thankful they did.
We also love that the original flower-style wheel covers and tires are still included. The seller installed fresh tires and a different set of White Highline covers, but kept the original pieces with the car where they belong.
Then there's the memorabilia.
We'd probably spend just as much time going through those boxes as we would looking at the car.
Because that's not just a collection of old Dodge Neon stuff.
That's a record of somebody's passion for an automobile that most people never gave a second thought.
And we have tremendous respect for that.
Now, there's one more thing we have to talk about.
The license plate.
ASS MAN.
Yes, the Seinfeld plate.
A New York Neon with an ASS MAN plate.
Come on.
That's hilarious.
And somehow it makes this whole package even better.
But all joking aside, this auction means a little more to us than most.
Because when we look at this Neon, we're reminded of that little Magenta Pink 1997 coupe that helped put LMNM on the map.
We're reminded of the comments, the shares, the excitement, and the thousands of people who couldn't believe a car like that still existed.
That was the magic of Low Miles No Miles in the beginning.
And it's still the magic today.
Finding the vehicles nobody expected to survive.
Celebrating the people who preserved them.
And reminding everyone that automotive enthusiasm isn't measured by horsepower, price tags, or auction results.
It's measured by the memories and emotions these cars bring back.
So to the original owner who loved this Neon enough to preserve it and collect all those wonderful pieces of its history, we have to say thank you.
And to whoever becomes its next caretaker, we hope you appreciate just how special this little car really is.
Because around here, a Dodge Neon will always mean something.
After all, one helped build the place.
