Description
This 1962 Rambler American Deluxe two-door club sedan has a neat history dating back to October 1961, when it was sold new by Boch AMC Rambler of Norwood, Massachusetts. Approximately two decades later, the original owner traded the car back to the same dealership, where it eventually became part of the dealership owner's personal collection. The current owner acquired the Rambler in 2019, and we're pleased to be offering it on consignment here at SweetCars in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Originally finished in Sirocco Beige (42), this Rambler was repainted in red under previous ownership and features chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, distinctive rear roof overhang, and subtle tail fins. The original Boch dealership badge remains affixed to the trunk lid, a neat reminder of the car's history. Black-painted 15" steel wheels with Rambler-branded chrome covers are wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires, with a covered spare stored in the trunk.
Inside, the cabin features front and rear bench seats upholstered in Inca Silver textured cloth with matching vinyl accents, complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and headliner. Additional equipment includes a Weather Eye heater/defroster, AM radio, and a two-spoke steering wheel with a stylized "R" center cap. The five-digit odometer currently shows approximately 25k miles, with roughly 200 miles added under current ownership.
Power comes from a 196ci L-head "Super Flying Scot" inline-six, factory rated at 90 horsepower and equipped with a one-barrel Carter carburetor. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a column-shifted Flash-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. The most recent documented service was performed in October 2024 and included freeing a stuck valve, replacing the muffler, and changing the engine oil.
The car is accompanied by its owner's manual, original 1961 purchase paperwork, service records, a digital service manual, and a "62 Rambler American" license-plate frame.

Known flaws
In the seller’s words.
- Miscellaneous rubber bushing and mounts on underbody are dry-rotted and cracking. See underbody photos for details.
Before you buy
- See it. Ask the seller and arrange a viewing in Messages. Only the two of you can read it, and nothing on this page gives out a phone number or an address.
- Have it inspected. A pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic you choose, before you commit. LMNM doesn’t arrange inspections yet and doesn’t inspect the vehicles it lists.
- Deal in the open. Keep the conversation on LMNM, see the title and the VIN on the vehicle before money moves, and pay in a way you can trace, to a seller you’ve verified.
